About me

My name is Giulio. Over the past few years, I graduated cum laude in a bachelor’s degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at LUISS University, and worked in international environments focusing on innovation and development. In 2023 I started a Master’s in Law, Digital Innovation, and Sustainability. Currently, I am preparing for an Erasmus exchange at WU Vienna, set to begin in September 2024.

I grew up in the countryside, but my interests have always been international. My passion for European integration and international relations initially guided me towards a diplomatic career. However, as I delved deeper into political issues, I discovered a strong passion for policymaking. Through simulations of the Italian parliament and the Council of the European Union, I learned how to draft policies effectively.

My interest in diplomacy and international cooperation, particularly between Europe and Africa, led me to spend a semester studying in Morocco. This experience was incredibly formative and solidified my belief in the benefits of deeper cooperation between Europe and Africa, or specifically between Italy and North Africa. During my studies, I also became fluent in French, further enhancing my ability to engage in international settings.

My thesis focused on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, the largest hydroelectric dam in Africa, which has been at the center of a decade-long regional conflict. This project deepened my understanding of sustainability and geopolitical issues. Additionally, I spent a summer in Germany as an au pair, where I learned German and completed my thesis.

In 2023, I had the opportunity to undertake a traineeship in Brussels, which further fueled my interest in the future of Europe and solidified my desire to work in this dynamic city. Brussels, with its vibrant international community and focus on European affairs, aligns perfectly with my aspirations.

Currently, my primary concern is sustainability, especially in urban and transportation contexts. My favorite Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) is number 11, which strives for better and more sustainable communities. I am passionate about creating sustainable urban environments and improving transportation systems to foster healthier, more resilient cities.

My strengths include a curious mind that is always searching for new solutions, reliability as a team member, and a pragmatic approach that allows me to prioritize tasks effectively. However, I am aware of my weaknesses: I sometimes struggle with concise work when faced with faraway deadlines, I can get overly involved in helping others at the expense of my own tasks, and I have a fear of making mistakes. I am actively working on these areas by pushing myself to have more confidence and by accepting constructive feedback.
